IBM Auto Mechanic washes and details trucks at its yard at 21-23 Trawalla Ave, Thomastown: exterior wash, engine bay, chassis and underbody, and interior cab detailing for rigid trucks, prime movers and combinations up to B-doubles. Owner-drivers book a slot; fleets book a regular program. The wash can be added to a service, repair or roadworthy so the truck leaves clean.
What we wash
| Wash | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Exterior | Cab, body, tanks, wheels, wheel arches, grille, bumpers and chrome. Road grime, diesel residue and bug strike. |
| Engine bay | Degrease and pressure wash, with electrical connectors and the air intake protected. |
| Chassis and underbody | Rails, cross-members, suspension and driveline. Recommended before a roadworthy so the inspector can see the metal. |
| Interior | Cab vacuum, dash and console, seats, door trims, windows and mirrors inside and out. |
| Fleet program | A regular slot for several units, one invoice, washed the same way every time. |
Trucks and combinations we take
Rigid trucks, prime movers, tippers, curtain-siders, refrigerated bodies, trailers and B-double combinations. Ring if you are bringing a combination longer than a B-double or an oversize load so we can confirm access.
Why wash before a roadworthy
A clean chassis and underbody let the inspector see cracks, leaks and worn components properly. It also stops a dirty vehicle being marked down on items that are fine underneath. Booking the chassis wash before the inspection is common practice here.
Fleet washing
- Scheduled slots, weekly, fortnightly or monthly
- Consistent finish across every unit, so the fleet looks the same on the road
- Combined with scheduled servicing and roadworthy batches where it suits
- One invoice
Booking and price
Ask for the price when you book; it depends on the vehicle, the combination and which washes you want. Book a time rather than queue. Early drop-off from 6am is available Monday to Saturday.
Near you: the workshop is in Thomastown, a short drive from Epping, Lalor, Campbellfield, Somerton, Broadmeadows, Coolaroo, Craigieburn and the rest of northern Melbourne. Areas we serve.
Questions we get asked
What size trucks can you wash?
Rigid trucks, prime movers and combinations up to B-doubles at our Trawalla Ave yard. Exterior, engine bay, chassis and interior are booked separately or together, and fleets can be scheduled on a regular slot. Ring first for anything longer than a B-double.
Can I book a wash with a service or roadworthy?
Yes. Booking the wash into the same visit as a service, repair or RWC means one drop-off and one pick-up. Tell us when you book and the wash is scheduled at the end of the job so the truck leaves clean.
Do you wash the chassis before a roadworthy?
Yes, and we recommend it. A clean chassis and underbody let the inspector see cracks, leaks and worn components properly, and it stops a dirty vehicle being marked down on items that are fine underneath.
Do you do fleet washing?
Yes. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly slots for several units, washed the same way every time, on one invoice, and combined with scheduled servicing or roadworthy batches where that suits the fleet.
